Hub Agent

Our Hub department manages a solid global network of agencies. We provide agency services in all ports through our own Wilhelmsen offices and through selected business partners. This partnership ensures the highest local expertise, combined with global knowledge and experience, to our clients.

The Hub department in Schiedam has 8 colleagues, in the positions of Account Manager and HUB agent. You will also work closely with the teams in Houston, America and Piraeus, Greece. The Hub team reports to the General Manager Hub Agency. Your immediate colleagues have years of experience within the maritime industry in an international context. They will also guide you within this position.

You are an enthusiastic colleague who has the ability to understand customer needs and respond and act on them proactively. You have no problem prioritizing and ensuring that appointments can be completed in a timely and accurate manner. You are a colleague who can easily collaborate with stakeholders, both internally and externally. You must therefore definitely have good communication skills. You have a commercial mindset and through your analytical ability, know how to leverage customer-specific information. You have attention to detail and work accurately, this is how you make the difference at our client!

As a HUB Agent, you will be responsible for managing customer needs according to the Hub Agreement. You will closely monitor customer service needs, coordinate port calls and provide comprehensive customer support.

You will ensure that all appointments are handled in a timely and accurate manner and assigned to the appropriate agent. Working with the assigned agent and vendors, you ensure compliance with customer expectations and operational requirements. You will also provide administrative, technical and commercial support and advice to customers, the Hub team and Sales. You will work closely with Sales to leverage customer-specific information to proactively promote our products and services, and contribute to finding solutions to customer challenges.

You will assist in drafting Hub agreements, ensure compliance with contractual obligations and regulations related to shipping agents, and maintain accurate records and maintenance in IT systems. You will discuss feedback given from customers with Hub Agency Manager, Global Hub Operations Manager, Global Hub Director and Sales, and track any complaints in the improvement/complaint system.

• Completed education in Business Management or at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Good oral and written command of the Dutch and English language.
• Experience with operational work as a shipping agency or other relevant work experience in shipping. 
• Able to work independently and systematically. 
• Able to meet deadlines through good time management and allocation of priorities. 
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and can easily work with other computer systems.
