The Opportunity: QFS Manager

This is a pivotal role within our Amsterdam facility, where you will become an integral part of our dedicated Quality team. You will lead a team of 7 colleagues (1 lab coordinator, 1 QA Specialist & 5 lab analysts), ensuring the highest standards of Quality and Food Safety across our broad multisectoral scope (Feed, Food & Pharma). You will have 1 direct report and 6 indirect reports, with reporting lines to both the Plant Manager Amsterdam and the Quality Food Safety Manager Western Europe (based in Barcelona). This role offers the chance to make significant decisions and drive impactful change within a critical area of our operations.

As the QFS Manager, your primary goal will be to control the quality and food safety of our products up to their delivery to our customers. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the Quality Department and ensuring full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations pertaining to food and feed safety, product quality, and risk management.
• Monitoring production methods, from raw material to finished product, to guarantee quality at every stage, including storage and shipping.
• Implementing and applying advanced quality tools, methodologies, and procedures to ensure the utmost quality in our products and services.
• Conducting internal audits and actively seeking customer feedback on product QA, providing recommendations for continuous improvement where areas of weakness are identified.

Other Accountabilities:

• • Coordinating laboratory operations and quality control activities.
  • Developing and implementing inspection and testing criteria and procedures.
  • Maintaining proactive communication with local authorities for annual assessments, regular inspections, and potential authorizations.
  • Leading research and development activities for new projects or to enhance the efficiency of management actions.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who meets the following criteria:

• Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience as a manager in a Quality Department, crushing (e.g., soy, sunflower, rapeseed) experience is required. Experience in feed/food business is also valuable.
• Higher professional education in food technology, chemical, or health science-related studies.
• In-depth knowledge of legislative requirements in the field of food and feed safety.
• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong understanding and experience with HACCP, EFISC, FSSC 22000, and HALAL/KOSHER/IP standards.
• Advanced level of English, with Dutch being a desirable asset.
