BulkJoin Vopak as a Business Development Manager - Battery Energy Storage! Around the world, we connect the supply of and demand for vital products and resources, effectively helping the world flow forward.
Vopak is entering new geographies to expand its Battery Energy Storage presence globally. As a Business Development Manager - Battery Energy Storage, you are a crucial member of the team responsible for driving this expansion and developing large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will be responsible for originating new business and leading complex dealmaking processes from first contact to a signed contract. Your primary goal is to originate new projects and act as a savvy dealmaker, build long-term partnerships to successfully bring BESS projects to life.
Your focus will be on the successful integration of battery projects to unlock critical flexibility in power grids, supporting grid stability and integration of intermittent renewable generated power. You will be based in our headquarters in Rotterdam. Regular international travel is an important part of the role to identify opportunities and develop a local network.

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a similarly relevant field.

10+ years of B2B sales or commercial experience, specifically with international sustainable energy projects (e.g., Solar, Independent Power Producer, or Battery Storage).

Proven track record in leading high-value, complex transactions, potentially with a background in venture capital or investment.

Deep understanding of power markets and the challenges of the energy transition.

Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills

Strong ability to connect with and adapt to different cultural backgrounds.

Entrepreneurial mindset and a results-driven approach to building purpose-driven companies.

Fluency in English and Dutch; proficiency in French is considered a strong asset.

Expectation and willingness for regular international travel for business development and partnership alignment.

Project & Asset Expansion: Drive the development and investment in large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems in new geographies through partnerships, M&A, greenfield developments and potential brownfield developments at existing Vopak terminals.

Origination & Dealmaking: Originate new business in the energy storage space across target regions and lead complex deal processes from the first contact all the way to a signed deal.

Strategic Partnerships: Build and grow strong partnerships with utilities, developers, and industrial clients to ensure energy is available precisely when and where it's needed.

Commercial Advisory & Strategy: Act as a trusted commercial advisor to clients and stakeholders while collaborating closely with internal teams to align each deal with the company's long-term strategy.

Cross-Cultural Alignment: Navigate international markets and regulatory backgrounds, adapting to diverse cultural contexts to secure sustainable energy projects globally.
