Senior R&D Lab Technician - Food Science

For the Innovation Center Product Development group we are looking for an eager, hands-on, pro-active technician who can develop products and value propositions for a variety of application fields.

Based in Gorinchem, NL, within the Innovation Center, the Product Development team is looking for a reinforcement in the lab. The PD team is responsible for the development of new products to the market, prototyping and business-customer support concerning said products. The team serves all branches of the company, focusing on health and nutrition and supporting preservation and lactic acid derivatives business. The team is in total about 14 professionals, of which 7 lab technicians.

As a Technician IC Product Development you have a solid (applied) scientific background in preferably nutrition, and is able to work independently on support activities and in teams on innovation or product implementation projects. You are customer driven, have a can-do attitude and are able to work on multiple activities at once. You like an informal workplace and can be pragmatic if needed. You can speak, read and write in English. You are more on the lab then at your desk.

You report into the Teamleader IC Product Development in a team of about 7 professionals.

• You will execute (and drive) the lab related support questions coming from business development/sales.
• You will join key strategic and customer projects as a project member or technical lead.
• You work closely with subject matter experts from the various disciplines in the company and have input in these discussions.
• You effectively align your own priorities and escalate if necessary.
• You actively build your competence level within the required fields.

• Holds at least a bachelor degree from (Applied) University in science, preferably food science.
• Have relevant experience in a non-routine lab environment.
• Enjoys working on a variety of projects and is flexible when it comes to shifting priorities.
• Can design experiments and is able to align with experts.
• Possesses good communication skills in at least English.
• Has affinity with the business and customer needs.
• Enjoys an informal and vibrant work environment.
