Junior Customs Analyst

Location: Rotterdam or Brake

This role offers you a unique opportunity to take your first steps within the customs field. You get to chance to develop yourself and the possibility to learn from experienced colleagues. You will work with different departments within Germany, Holland and Switzerland. Together with your direct colleagues and other departments you are responsible for the fact that the shipments are running smoothly. It’s a diverse role and it’s your responsibility to make sure that the checks and documents are correct in every step in the process.

Within in this role you are working with different kind of departments. You will have daily contact with the traders about the incoming goods. And together with the logistics team you will make sure that the shipments are running smoothly. Customer Service will schedule the unloading of the goods and will have contact with you regarding the documentation and about the customs status. It’s also possible that our clients will reach out to you about the status of their goods.

• Act as a first point of contact (and the go-to person) for customs questions for operational colleagues;
• Prepare incoming shipments;
• Prepare CCI instructions to do pre-shipment declarations;
• Finalization of the customs declarations;
• Issue & send TORO documents if goods are shipped under end use;
• Order and maintain an overview of all used customs seals and report this to the customs authorities;
• Issue long term supplier declarations or Certificates of Origin/EUR1 certificates;
• Declare monthly the German Energy tax receivables to the tax authorities;
• Follow developments in regulations related to and/or impacting Olenex business from a customs point of view and point out risks and opportunities to the organization;
• Support the commercial, inbound & outbound teams and customs matters;
• Check customs related invoices from service providers or tax authorities;
• Prepare the declaration to declare the goods in the proper customs regulations, taking note of the origin and applicable duties over the raw material vs the sales of processed goods.

To excel in this role, you should demonstrate strong communicative and administrative skills, and you are able to work with a high degree of accuracy. You’re able to work independently but also as a team player. Besides that, you have the ability to work effectively under deadlines. In addition, you have;

• MBO and/or bachelors degree Customs;
• Knowledge of import and export documentation and procedures;
• Knowledge of EU customs rules and regulations;
• Good skills in MS Office software;
• Fluent in German and English, (preferably also Dutch).
