The purpose of a Structural Engineering Team is to oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive structural strategy for APMT for both new as well as old equipment. This to ensure the safety, integrity, and longevity of structures as per Spec. They are responsible for managing the Equipment Structural Specs, Design improvements, Repair Procedures Inspection Manuals and Intervals. The role involves balancing engineering knowledge, outsourcing standards, project management, stakeholder communication, and budget oversight to achieve organizational goals. Ultimately, the Structural Engineer Tema ensures the equipment achieves its technical life and makes sure APM is within compliance regarding Structural Risk.
- Program Strategy and Development: Define and implement the overall vision, goals, and roadmap for the Structural Engineering Program, Database, Specs and Standards.
- Technical Support and Development: Assist in implementing the overall vision and goals for structural engineering projects, contributing to design solutions and technical documentation for the Structural Integrity Management System (SIMS).
- Project Assistance and Execution: Support the planning and execution of design reviews, repair procedures, and project deliverables under the guidance of senior engineers, ensuring tasks are completed on time and meet quality standards.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to effective communication and alignment with project objectives.
- Client and Stakeholder Support: Assist in preparing reports, technical documents, and presentations for clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear and actionable information is conveyed.
- Learning and Process Improvement: Actively participate in team initiatives to improve processes, adopt new technologies, and enhance quality control measures to support project success.
Specific Areas of Responsibilities:
- Creation and checking of Repair Procedures of critical repair on existing equipment
- Master Plan that encompasses creation of BIM models and FEA Models for all big equipment for all customers and resources planned.
- Asset Integrity Management System Development
- Foster a collaborative environment where teams work together to achieve common goals.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to terminal staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in terms of FEA and structural management.
- Optimize inspection manuals and intervals, drive cost reduction for terminals at a competitive edge for CES.
Education:
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Structural Engineering field
- Strong technical background in Steel structures
- Project Management Professional and/or PRINCE II certification preferred
- Any additional experience in heavy industry equipment management are beneficial
- Welding Certification is beneficial
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering projects or. vocational/technical education with +7 years’ experience on structural engineering repairs and or design projects.
- Experience with client management and internal departmental communications
- Experience in managing external consultant team.
Specialized knowledge:
- Expertise with structural analysis (FEA) on big steel structures
- Understanding of design principles for container equipment and cranes is preferred
- Expertise of failure mechanisms, such as corrosion, fatigue, and material degradation
- Stakeholder management, working with clients, engineers, and inspection teams.
- Requires a general familiarity with operational maintenance processes and inspection technique
- Requires specific technical knowledge of structural systems and inspection works
Communication:
- Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Good English communication both speaking and writing
- Expresses ideas effectively to individuals and groups both in oral or written form adjusts language and terminology to suit the situation
- Must be able to read technical documentation
- 2nd language beneficial (Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin as an example)
Skills
- Proficiency with industry-standard Structural FEA Programs (Ansys, Nastran, Abaqus)
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- ERP experience (Maximo, IFS)
