An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and accurate on Technical Supervisor Electrical & Instrumentation to join our Technical Services Department in Delft, the Netherlands. The Technical Services Department is part of the Technical Department (TD). The department’s mission is to manage the maintenance, repair and modifications of Allseas’ vessels, yards and equipment, to provide technical expertise and first class support on and offshore, and to stay ahead of the development of new techniques, changing rules, regulations and client wishes.
As a Technical Supervisor Electrical & Instrumentation, you play a crucial coordinating role in ensuring the safety, reliability and quality of our electrical LV/HV installations and electrical work equipment across all our sites and vessels.
Rather than a purely hands-on technician position, this is a supervisory and organisational role, focused on electrical safety, compliance, inspections, documentation, and the correct execution of work by internal staff and subcontractors.
You will work across all our offices and yards, containing Heijningen (workshop), Rotterdam (warehouse), Eindhoven (Research & Development) and Enschede (fabrication). Occasionally, you will also travel offshore to support our vessels.
Your most important tasks will be:
Electrical safety & compliance
- Ensure the safe operation of all LV/HV electrical installations and electrical work equipment.
- Develop, implement and safeguard policies regarding electrical safety in accordance with applicable standards and legislation.
- Establish and maintain access regulations for areas with electrical hazards.
Inspections & quality
- Organise and coordinate periodic inspections of installations and equipment.
- Ensure timely remediation of any identified defects.
- Conduct electrical safety risk analyses and internal audits to continuously improve safety and reliability.
Procedures & documentation
- Prepare work procedures for operation, maintenance and inspection of installations, includingprocedures for isolation and making installations inactive.
- Keep technical documentation up to date and maintain records of incidents and relevant work activities.
- Collect and provide information for as-built drawings and diagrams.
Coordination & supervision
- Supervise electrical activities carried out by subcontractors and third parties.
- Ensure safe, efficient and compliant execution of works on board and on site.
- Coordinate with internal technical staff and advise crew where required.
- Appoint competent and qualified personnel where necessary, and ensure training and instruction needs are met.
Planning & budgeting
- Prepare annual and multi-year (5–10 year) maintenance, improvement and modification budgets in collaboration with budget holders and internal stakeholders.
- Draft technical specifications for new or upgraded installations.
Support & cooperation
- Support Equipment Electricians with troubleshooting and maintenance activities when required (not as primary focus).
- Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, procedures and technologies used within the organisation.
In order to qualify for this job, you should recognize yourself in (most of) the following requirements:
- Good command of both English (the main language at Allseas) and Dutch, as a lot of technical documents are in Dutch
- Minimum MBO degree in electrical engineering or equivalent;
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within an industrial environment;
- Experience within the offshore, dredging, construction or shipbuilding industry is a great asset (but not a must)
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards (e.g. Arbowet, NEN 1010 is a plus).
- NEN 3140 / 3840 IV or WV certification (or willingness to obtain); STIPEL certification is a strong asset.
- Accurate, flexible and cost-aware professional with a creative attitude;
- Willingness to occationally travel and work abroad or offshore;
